Folium: 3D label with glossy gold foil and variable graphics
The Folium label project, born from the collaboration between ArtevinoStudio and ILMA Etichette, was created to explore the potential of HP Indigo digital printing and SmartStream Designer’s variable data tools applied to the world of wine.
2020
Experimental project by ILMA Etichette and Artevino Studio

Variable Data
“Unique and ‘random’ designs generated with an HP program that enables variations from a single template using proportional resizing, transposition, and rotation.”

Copper Detaluxe®
“A molten metal-effect foil that enhances any graphic with depth and dimension.”
A unique shape
Customised die-cutting for unique and recognisable packaging.
Customised die-cutting allows you to create packaging with a unique shape, design and size that stands out from standard packaging. This significantly contributes to strengthening your product’s uniqueness and making it instantly recognisable on the market. Packaging is, in fact, an extension of the product and the brand. A customised die cut allows you to communicate your company values without words, but only through shape.
Braille
“Braille embossing on the winery’s name adds tactile dimension and emphasizes key details.”
Folium labels: variable graphics with Detaluxe®
The Mosaic technique was applied to Folium, allowing for rotation, scaling, mirroring, and colour shifting from a single pattern to generate a multitude of unique variations.
Ten, a hundred, a thousand or more designs in a single print run. Every label is different. Every label is unique.
The two imagined products—a red and a white wine—feature dominant colour themes to help visually differentiate them within the range. Despite the infinite visual variations, each wine maintains brand consistency.
A custom leaf-shaped die-cut, evocative of the name Folium, together with braille embossing on the brand name and copper Detaluxe® embellishment, become signature elements repeated across the line, ensuring consistent branding.
This is a non-commercial product, printed by ILMA Etichette for technical experimentation.
