Local animal biodiversity and nature’s spontaneity

Cattabrega: the local fauna and the spontaneity of nature

Max Brondolo makes his Cattabrega wine in Castelvetro, the historic homeland of Lambrusco Grasparossa, at the newly established Podere Sottoilnoce. There, he proudly revives traditional bottle refermentation techniques—an essential expression of Emilia’s sparkling terroir.

Cattabrega label: a thousand shades of nature

The label from this small but promising winery’s collection—brilliantly interpreted by Antonella Frate of Artevino Studio in Piverone—captures the full vibrancy of a place known for its one-of-a-kind biodiversity.

“You are drinking a wine created to match my personal taste.

On this label, I would have loved to talk about the beauty of the land that surrounds Podere Sottoilnoce, and the natural farming and production methods we follow.

But I was told I could not.

So, if you are curious about the grape varieties, the vintage, our vinification techniques, and bottle refermentation—just email me at max@sottoilnoce.com or, even better: come find me under the walnut tree in the old vineyard.

There is always a bottle waiting to be opened.”
