The graphics and packaging of a product tell its essence, story, and quality. Here’s the Officina delle Essenze experience.

The production process, product quality, and the choices behind manufacturing are essential pillars for any company. But there is also everything that underpins a product’s communication: the graphics it wears and the packaging must be effective in conveying its essence, story, and quality. We asked Officina delle Essenze, an artisanal perfumery that produces home fragrances, why it dedicated so much attention to its image and what it sought to best represent the quality and tradition of its scents. Giulio Riotta, Marketing Manager, answered our questions.

Fragrance stimulates the sense of smell, yet the eyes also need to be satisfied. Why and how should the aesthetics of a perfume be curated?

Officina delle Essenze is a brand with a strong artisanal identity, born from over fifty years of experience—passed down from father to son—in the world of artistic perfumery. As devoted followers of tradition, the creation of fragrances has always been the central activity of our craft. Nevertheless, the importance of packaging has grown over the years, along with our attention to these details.

This is why, in 2019, we decided to further refine the aesthetics of our home diffusers by investing in the creation of our own bottle, reflecting the artisanal quality of our production. Today, we are one of the few brands in the world to boast a collection of glass diffusers with an exclusive design, conceived and produced in Italy.

What does Officina delle Essenze look for in its labels and packaging?

Simplicity often goes hand in hand with elegance. That is why in our production you will never find excessive ornaments or overly elaborate designs. Our graphics are linear, deliberately simple, clean, and uncluttered. This is what we seek in our fragrances: that they reach the customer and create an atmosphere without overdoing it or becoming “too much.” We focus on substance, in keeping with the oldest of traditions.

Why is it important to entrust a professional with the study of your brand image and graphic design?

Improvisation brings with it many—too many—variables. That’s why, in line with the budgets available, we entrust the development of our ideas to professionals with proven experience and reliability. In teamwork, we aim to clearly express our values, objectives, and the intended use of our fragrances. The graphic designer, through their professional expertise, identifies the most appropriate language—in terms of visuals, styles, and colors—to communicate what we wish to highlight.
